Like a kid on Christmas morning...

That's how I felt when I came across this site!
Hello all from New Orleans. Middle-aged woman here with a few pounds to lose- there's still some pretty good muscle under the fat- and a lot to learn about cycling The weight is finally melting away as I've increased the mileage.
I've been riding for about a year now, after foolishly taking a few years off from it, and am completely hooked and in love with my Raleigh. Usually go about 30-45 miles three times a week. Last year, I did the MS-150 ride and performed badly, only making it two-thirds of the way the first day! I did all 75 the following day, but it was UGLY! I'm going again in October with determination to do much better.
The bike has been in the shop for a week now getting some broken bits replaced after a nasty crash when a car ran me off the road; should be getting it back tomorrow and am eager/anxious to hop on to get over the post-accident jitters. Have missed the bike so much I actually dreamed about it last night
Glad to be here, and looking forward to learning a lot!
