Don't confuse pitch which is the on-center distance of the blades at the crown, with (dropout) width which refers to width of the front hub the fork is made for.
IMO - pitch is a fairly useless dimension since the blades and crown are usually inseparable anyway. OTOH it could become material as a guide to tire width clearance --- Pitch - 1 blade diameter (be sure to use the outer blade for suspension forks).
