I did actually get the Tektro's to fit. Due to the aforementioned thin pads the clearance is not an issue.
However, I need to do a bit more adjusting (fiddling) with the front brakes, as the bike was equipped with 27" wheels, and the front
pads don't quite hit the 700c"s like they should.
But, that's a different issue.
