The B17 is plenty comfy, but I do think it looks out of place on a French bike (as does the Carradice saddlebag). It used to have an Ideale 80, but it was too narrowly shaped for an upright riding position. That saddle is long gone, but I'd like to find a wider Ideale to replace the Brooks.
Do you realize that some PX10s came from the factory with Brooks saddles? I don't think they're out of place on French bikes.
