My advice is to reset your expectations. Forget about hormone growth, Friel, and all that. You have to get your life together first. It's going to take some time for your body to adapt to flex scheduling, and the stress of trying to fit structured training into an unstructured life may push you over the edge. That means poor physical and mental health, and poor performance on the bike. I would figure out the flex schedule first and JRA during this period. You will learn a lot about your capabilities. Then find a way to add some structure once you have adjusted. You might have to get creative, like commuting, riding during breaks, etc. Good luck.
