The axles are normal hollow road style, which do not extend beyond the dropouts. They are internally threaded at the ends so that they can also be used with bolts, which are supplied with them. I have the old style Wabi wheels, 650C that came with my Wabi Lightning and a 700C front that I previously had on the Rush. I like the new rims better, because they have a nice gloss black finish instead of the dull matte finish of the Jalcos and are squared off at the tips, so you don't see a gap where the valve stem sticks out. Quality wise, the new and old rims appear to be the same.
