I was going to make a point, but I had to chuckle when the Chain Johnny gave me a concrete example...

Option 1, bath towel from discount store $2-3, available in a variety of colors. For the ultra-fancy version get a set of bungee cords or velcro straps for an additional $2... Total $4-5, and can serve other purposes as needed. Can be done for free if you have an old towel you can use.

Bicycle specific solution (such as Chain Johnny), $20 or more ($40 or more if you also advetize with Shimano Dura-Ace or Campagnolo Super Record logos), and serves exactly one and only one purpose. Does it do better than a towel? Maybe, maybe not.

I also have to ask... Grease on chains??? I do hope you are just talking about dirty chain lube and not grease. A well maintained bike with chain lube will leave marks too, but it is nowhere near the mess that would be encountered if you use grease on your chain.
