YMMV,but I wouldn't go any narrower than 1 1/8" tires;on my old Mu SL I swapped the stock 1 1/8's for 1.35" Kojaks and noticed the ride def improved. Skinny,high psi tires on a small-wheeled all alloy bike are not going to give a good ride on anything other than glass smooth roads.
Yup, I think that is one thing I am concerned with, the "quality of the ride". I'd hate to drop all that money to get the ultema's and not enjoy them.
