Judging from the bikes you already own, you're perfectly familiar with prestas, so I would stay with them and not bother enlarging the rim holes. I would buy a four pack of tubes on the bay; 406 prestas are not a common size in bike shops. Even in NYC. As others have stated, check sizing first.
