Bikes: 89 Bottecchia, 90's Eddy Merckx MXL, Vision R40, Blk Mtn Cycles Super Cross

I think it comes from general math or from geometry:

A+B+C=N

A=Number of bikes in basement
B=Number of bikes in garage
C=Number of bikes in storage

N=Total number of bikes in possession

Therefore N+1 is the number of bikes desired!
