Only one way to do this, for me anyway: Pick a retirement date and immediately tell everyone you know. I'm retiring on June 6th!
This leads us to my resolution for this year: Learn to live more frugally, because Social Security isn't the big bonanza that some of the folks in Washington would like you to believe. But all the extra time for riding, cooking, photography, fishing, music, adventures with friends and family, and hiking will all be worth it! Some folks can't figure out what to do when they retire. I won't have that problem. I suspect you won't either.
