Mtn Bike Shoes!! I cant imagine trying to use road shoes just wouldn't work. Also I tend to lean to none carbon. Reason being they are alot stiffer which is a good thing but not good when you have to run. Also i suggest going with a shoe that has atleast an upper ratchet strap. In muddy/wet races you will thank me.
