SRAM Automatix 2-speed Hub

Hey everyone,

I'm thinking of converting my single-speed to a 2-speed via the SRAM Automatix hub. However, my frame's rear spacing is 135mm and the hub is 120mm with included spacers to accomodate 130mm frames. I know the stock axle isn't quite long enough to safely tighten it down to the frame (175mm overall length).

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to switch out the stock axle for a standard threaded one for a 135mm frame. More specifically, I guess my question is for anyone who has actually taken apart the SRAM hub; can the stock axle be removed/replaced by itself, or is it connected with or have proprietary qualities with the rest of the internals of the hub, therefore cannot be changed? Pardon my lack of knowledge on how these things work...

Oh and I have already considered the Sturmey Archer Duomatic, which I know comes in a compatible size, but I'd just rather not have to backpedal to shift, since I'd still want my coaster brake and I don't want to shift every time I brake.

Thanks in advance!
