There is a huge long thread on STI/Ergo vintage builds. Spend some time there. I usually "squeeze in" rather than cold set (assumes starting with a six or seven speed bike:126mm spacing). Realize the difference between 126 and 130 is a little over 1/8 inch, or slightly over 1/16 inch per side.
I've been lusting over that thread. I guess I just don't know the difference between the good builds and not so great ones.
and if squeeze means just springing the frame open then I will definitely try that-- sounds much easier. Thanks for the tips.
