In case you didn't already know, make sure you check out the seatpost very very carefully on that 754. They're almost impossible to obtain (rare quill-style, like a stem) and were prone to cracking.
I've seen close up photos from a few angles and there is no apparent cracking around the adjustment screw. Or is there any place else to look?
