All depends on what your lifestyle is. As a newly freed divorcee I wanted to run amok dating and living la vida loca in nyc. But I had a dog (Moose) in the hudson valley and I had to get back home every night to tend to him. Having a dog is like having a child, you have to be prepared and committed to being tied down. They ain't crapping in no litter box like a cat. lol

Sure the lady friend would be willing to come to my place for the evening, but that novelty wears thin pretty quickly when it involves a 75 mi commute to work the next morning.

If you want an active social life, partying and traveling and living spontaneously, a dog is better left for later.
