Well I've thought about it and I think I just broke my first rule of riding, "Always enjoy the ride". I was thinking about distance, hills, speed, wind, being cold, and how hard the ride was going to be. I never took time to think about how lucky I was to be out on my bike. Lesson learned, I hope.
