For example: a lot of the conditioning exercises (both strength and flexibility) proposed for "seniors" wouldn't even count as exercise to a younger or fitter person than the fat, stiff, debilitated person that 'they' assume all "seniors" to be.
Conversely, I watched an 80 year old Buddhist monk just plop down into a full lotus position -- and maintain it without twitching even a muscle for nearly two hours...
And too, the points you make are also part of the reason they advise one to "warm up" BEFORE stretching with a 10 minute aerobic exercise. Over stretching cold, stiff tendons and muscles can cause injury...
