I use a floor pump on my tires before every ride. I also carry a small pump mounted on my frame that I can use either with CO2 or to pump by hand. The hand pump option is useful to put a little air in the tire when mounting a new tube after a flat, then you can use the CO2 to top it off. I would be hard pressed to get more than about 60 PSI with my hand pump alone. So I typically hand pump to something close to 20 then use a CO2 and it usually ends up around 115-120. The CO2 will leak out faster, so I will dump the CO2 and refill with a floor pump as soon as I can after repairing a flat on the road.
