This is the dilemma that we all face at some time. I have found that much of what I buy locally is priced very reasonably. But, like you, I have seen some items that were very expensive at the LBS. Some things like Assos gear I only buy if heavily discounted and that's never at the LBS if you can even find them. For me it has always been a day to day juggling act. I do try to support my LBS though and I have noticed they all seem to be doing well.
