I use Body Glide Chamois Glide which keeps things nice and lubed to prevent chaffing and sores and such. It isn't quite so goopy and nasty and applies like stick deodorant. If some chaffing or sores do happen I like to use Florasone which I find at Whole Foods and other places.

Though as Machka said keeping clean and dry with a good fitting saddle and bike is a good thing and will prevent some of those problems. If bacteria cannot grow, your parts will not, well you know...

I always bring baby wipes with me because they come in quite handy in so many ways. 7th Generation makes some good, reasonably priced and more eco-friendly ones.
