I see them eventually supplanting other bikes since why would you need them when you can have one bike to go on the road, to the beach, on singletrack and on frozen winter terrain?
Thanks Norman.

In addition to the forum on MTBR, there is also a very active Face Book group for Fat Bikes.
The "one bike" concept is evolving with lighter frames and wheels, more tire choices or swapping wheels sets for different riding conditions or seasons - 29+ when the flotation of 4" or wider tread isn't needed.
Also, Fat E-Bike models are starting to emerge - might be the perfect platform for pedal assist.
The interest, usage & availability is growing by leaps and bounds.
