My wife and I cannot stand Car talk because of the two characters' constant obnoxiously loud cackling and guffawing at their own corny jokes. When they finally get around to talking about cars the content is good but it doesn't outweigh their goofball vaudevillian delivery.
I think of it more as an entertainment show that sometimes offers up some practical car advice. I find myself cackling right along with them. A couple of MIT grads that don't take themselves too seriously and don't need to flaunt their "intellect", I find it refreshing.
