Thinking about picking up a specialized tricross SS tomorrow. Craigslist for 400. Components are so so, but its even got the wheel reflectors still in the wheels.
I used to have an allez and the geometry looks like it is similar, Ive just never owned a SS bike before.

I don't know the bike mate but cyclocross bikes are becoming more and more the bike to turn to for urban use. Ride it and if you like it, go for it. SS is no different to a geared bike ... apart from the lack of shifters, so test ride and treat it the same way.
