it's only a gateway to ewangery if you let it be. there have always been dbags, strava just makes it more public. maybe it's made it worse, but it's really, really easy to just ignore that whole culture. i'd still find it every bit as useful if they removed the kom feature entirely (PRs are kind of fun though). i rallied against it for a long long time but now that i've started using it i really like it.
