1) for me it was moving around in a relatively fast, environmentally sane and very fun way. i'd hate my life to be slow and inactive. riding my bike sure is better than walking

2) buying the wrong bike. i think it's important to ask for advice before investing in a bicycle and gear

3) know your limitations, be alert and considerate on the road

4) i think some beginner cyclist expect drivers to be protective and mindful of them. yeah well, NOT the case. defensive bicycling is the way to go
