Are you sure the officer wasn't referring to the red (traffic signal) light being very bright instead of your taillight? Maybe he just said the red light was very bright and you assumed it was your light he was referring to. But if not, congratz; I happen to be a big proponent of using bright taillights (Dinotte for me).
