While the bike was undoubtedly very nice for its time, and a name brand, I just checked and at Bikesdirect.com you can buy a new carbon bike with Ultegra for about $100-200 more, and have a modern Ultegra 11 speed group instead of the 2002 9 speed group... and it would have zero miles on it.
More importantly, it would have a warranty. You don't know the history of the Trek, and a carbon bike could have damage that's invisible now but can cause the frame to fail later.
