I agree there's different types of "group" rides. Personally I'm disappointed if a group ride isn't a hold on for your life hammerfest. Around here, rides have different reputations so if you ask around, you know what you are getting in to on the various group rides. I like the variety and know where to go if I want an easier, more social ride.
