I was, or at least I believed myself to be, a hippy...and FYI the term hipster is far from recent. Waaay back, us "real" hippies described (maybe it is more accurate to say derided?) anyone we wanted to make fun of for being weekend hippies, as hipsters.

Kidz, please....First concert: When the police hauled Gracie Slick off the Akron Rubber Bowl stage while performing with Jefferson Airplane. Sheesh, I belong in the Smithsonian, I guess.
Now that I've also revealed how ancient I am, I can chime in that Jefferson Airplane was my 1st concert too - late '67 in Cincinnati, which is where Marty Balin was born, so we all were excited to think of it as his "homecoming". Cannot remember a bit of it
