Di2 Cat eye wiring problem

Hi All,

I am trying to eliminate the drop bar brake levers and Di2 shift switches with in it. I am planning on running a flat bar and Paul canti brake levers and Cateye switches for the shifters. I am hoping this is even possible. I have unplugged the brake levers and shifters at the small door on the side of the levers. Then found a 7970 Di2 shifter extension. I took some 20 gauge wire and made pins to connect the two female ends together. I connected the red on the cateye to the red on the Di2, then the white on the cateye to the black on the Di2, them connected the two bare wires on the cateye to the green on the Di2, and did not use the blue wire. I tested and determined that the blue wire was the upper center pin of the female connectors and did not connect that wire. I connected the battery and nothing. When I took off the female connector and plugged it back into the brake lever it worked fine. I was going to see if plugging the female plug into the second plug on the small door for auxiliary shifters would work, if so is there any way to eliminate the brake lever/shifters and use my flat bar set up?
