IMO, any piece or part not referenced or described on an enclosed parts list or instructions, is superfluous and may be discarded.

However, I know you want specific info, of which I have only guesses, so I have only one useful bit to add. Include a dime or some other coin or reference in the photos (for future reference) so people looking at the part have an idea of it's size.
