Leesburg to Reston is about 16 miles via the W&OD (roughly mile post 34 to mile post 18). The end of the trail is Purcellville (mile 44.5). So far the trail is not cleared during the winter if it snows and the worst is between Leesburg and Purcellville. As Jim said you do get some nice riding areas west of Leesburg.
