OK, I had assumed that all cartridge bottom brackets were installed the same way.

I still think it's crazy that the LBS that built my newer bike did such a lousy job. I've probably put less than 500 miles on it in two years.

At the time I had the bike built up, I had no idea how to do any bicycle maintenance and I didn't have any of the necessary tools.
