Seems like the perfect opportunity to just let someone else ride lead and take the wind load... sure, you can't really ride tight on them like a practiced pace line, but just hanging on to their wheel should be enough to either spook them or improve your efficiency. If they don't like it... F 'em, they'll learn not to shoal.
