I assume you're talking rotor size. Size you can go is dictated by the adapter, not frame or fork mounts. Frame and fork mounts, even if they are post/direct mounts are almost always sized for 6" - - even on some DH frames. So, to go to 7" or 8" you'll need an up-sizing adapter. Quality of your brakes will determine whether or not they'll do the job with larger rotors. With so many thru-axle forks, it's not so much of an issue anymore but rule-of-thumb for forks with quick-release skewers is still no larger than 6" rotors.
