back on topic, I purchased a Garmin 500 last year when I bought my Domane. I like the information it gives me, that I can include HRM info (as soon as I pick up the add ons), and that I can download it if I want. Before that I had used the CatEye Astral 8 and Strada computers. Those were certainly fine for basic cycling.
