I have a Schwinn Super Sport from that era with a similar paint design, except it has white on the seat tube instead of yellow. Schwinn called that color "magenta". Obviously "magenta" is far more "manly" than a bike that is "pink".

Although I'm not wild "magenta", I'm guessing that men's bikes that are pink or magenta may be close to theft-proof. I just don't think that typical street punk would feel comfortable saying to his buddies "Hey, it's NOT pink...it's magenta".
