I finally got tired of the Koolstop Salmon and combo pads. I thought they gumped the rim a bit, wore the rims too fast and squealed too much. I wanted to go Swisstop Blue, but they don't make them for V-brakes, so I went Swisstop GHP2. They don't squeal, don't seem to leave residue, stop really well in the dry and OK in the wet. We'll see about the rim wear. So far so good.
