+1, To get the feel of an alloy fork, you have to ride it for 25 miles or so to see how your arms and neck react over time. I'm a Giant fan, but the basic Defy would not be on my list when compared to the Jamis.
Straight guage steel, must assume it's not chromoly steel, Performance bike vs double butted Reynolds chromoly steel, being an old steel bike rider, I'd definitely go with the Jamis again.
