Haha...I went through the same issue with an MRP spindle. Rather than taper, it steps down to 22mm. The non-drive bearing does have a shim installed. Anyway, I figured I could replace the bearings only, and save a few bucks. Wrong. The bearings on the MRP are 1mm thicker than any other BB replacement bearings on the market. I thought about purchasing replacements through Enduro and making a couple 1mm shims to take up the slack, and still may go that route. However, I'm more likely to buy the SRAM since it will work, and hopefully it uses a standard thickness so I can replace them later if the need arises.

I would happily provide you with the shim at no cost. It's for a 68/73 mountain BB, but I don't think that makes much of a difference as far as the shim goes. I'd be interested to see if it works!
