Yes, your thinking is backwards

1) You don't pick a frame size smaller to make it stiffer. You buy a stiffer frame that fits.
2) If you are 6'2", your bike is too small. Period. You should be on a 59 or 61cm, probably.

This is exactly why I suggested that you take pics of yourself on bikes of various sizes
