Sometimes I wonder how much faster I would be if I ditched the fat tires, racks, fenders, suspended leather saddle, trekking bars, and generator lighting. Then I think, I hate backpacks. I'll keep the racks. Then I'll notice the road is wet, and I'd be covered in grime without the fenders. Then I remember how much of a PITA battery lighting can be... I guess I'd rather arrive in comfort than keep up with every cyclist I see.
