I use those keepon kovers on my cleats which also make use of the extender plate. This combo seems to work great. That metal plate ensures the cleat is 100% flat no matter what torque is on the mounting screws, thus cleat engagement is no problem. Walking on the kool covers, while not as good as like an spd shoe, is a little better than on the cleat alone, and seems to keep gack out of the cleats. I might try these newest things, depending on what I read abut them in the coming months.
