It not necessarily about watching the race but enjoying the moment. On that day most people did get to see the riders twice, fast and slower, if you can say 10+mph up the following bowling alley is slower. I brought Hot Cocoa and a down jacket so enjoying the race was not as uncomfortable as it sounds. Not to mention we were able to get our climbing in shortly after the TV coverage started and they had big screen to watch it live as well.
