I will jump in on this. I built up a road bike with Campy because it was the classic look I wanted. But I would not consider using Campy on a touring bike because most shops do not stock Campy parts, ie. cassettes. We rode cross country last year and I took time to stop in a lot of shops, as I work PT in our LBS. Not one had Campy stuff on the shelf.
Shimano for touring save the Campy for riding close to home!
