By "good fit" I don't think you are talking about size, but make sure it physically fits. I owned an '89 and '91, great bikes. My son borrowed the '89 for a campus commuter for a year, but he had a good strategy for locking it up. Not only is it a great utility bike, later you can set it up for some cyclocross and have a blast on the fire roads. Warning: You will have to learn to do some routine brake, derailleur adjustments, as I recall the '89 required a little tweaking every few weeks.
If you don't have a great strategy for locking it up on campus it will get jacked, period.
