I rode Hotter'N Hell in 2010 and I was # 1403 so I know there were a lot of cyclists on the ride. That year it wasn't super hot, maybe low 100's but I remember they had a huge fountain at the finish that you could ride through or just hang out in for awhile to cool off.

I flew into San Antonio from SoCal and drove with several friends out to the event in Wichita Falls, TX. There were come real races in days before the event but not on the actual Hotter'N Hell century course.

Overall a very well presented event with checkpoints (really rest-stops) every ten miles. Kind of excessive, yes, but you weren't required to stop so it allowed each rider to pick their own hydration/nutrition stops.
