eye the Type extension loop Birdy uses as a potential way to gather up some of the slack ..

Because the next step , packing in a suitcase when actually traveling , the greasy loop of chain can be bagged, in practice..
to be a little bit less Messy..

but once in hand you can practice to get your own scheme sorted out..
Someone gave me a folding bike cover with a drawstring closure; it should be big enough to cover lengthwise with the rear wheel folded and snug up above the top tube. Hopefully that will take care of the grease. I watched a you tube video on how to fold without dropping the chain and I'll definitely practice that method =). Packing in a suitcase will call for latex gloves, I think. Not my main concern or I would have gotten a Brompton. thanks for all the good advice!
