I used to ski a lot and was a race crew member, so some long days in cold weather.

Poly Pro does get stinky, and eventually you throw it away.

The best long johns in my experience are silk. I got them at MEC, but you can get them at LL Bean or REI. They are light, warm and will stretch with you as you move.
